A teacher's lesson plan is a guide for getting across information to the student. It is often put together on a day-by-day basis, taking the time to discuss topics in a logical and well thought out progression. Reputable sources such as the Library of Congress, or from university databases and libraries are ideally suited and are highly recommended. There are also a number of websites that have been thoroughly vetted by education professionals and can be of tremendous value to a teacher.
